I am the Mother of three boys who have been coming to Maplewood for 4 years. My oldest son loves the choices he gets for club day – soccer yo, yo, the rock climbing wall. One of most special things about Maplewood is way kids are celebrated for their achievements. They love coming home with the awards that celebrate all of the wonderful programs at Maplewood.   … The Hochberg Family

Physical Fitness: Athletic activities at camp are organized to encourage active participation, which promotes the development of both individual skills and team play. Our programs are individualized to meet the interests and needs of campers with varied athletic abilities. At Maplewood, our goal is to teach the fundamentals of each sport in an environment where the campers have a positive learning experience and come away from an activity feeling good about themselves. Activities Include: Basketball; Soccer; Ga Ga Ga Ball; Whiffleball; Softball; Volleyball; Newcomb; Kickball, Pillo-Polo; Football; Gymnastics; and much, much more.

Creativity: Our broad range of activities encourages campers to use their imaginations and express their creativity. Skilled arts-and-crafts specialists guide children in puppet making, scrap-booking, sand art, jewelry and other rewarding endeavors. Campers also enjoy creative options in ceramics, string art, gimp, and painting. The spirit of camp comes alive each day as our drama and music instructors lead campers in skits, singing, and performing. An experienced dance instructor teaches hip-hop, creative movement, and rhythms.

Individual & Group Achievement: Our staff is made up of highly trained counselors and specialists who are warm and caring. They are devoted to working with children and are focused on creating an environment that challenges campers, promotes learning, and encourages cooperation and friendship. They will be there every step of the way to guide your child as they take on new challenges. An unparalleled camper-to-counselor ratio assures personalized attention every day. By maintaining ongoing communication with parents, our staff ensures that parents stay connected to their camper’s experience.

Fun & Adventure: Surrounding woods provide a setting for campers to experience the wonders of nature. Our nature specialist at the Maplewood Barnyard uses a hands-on approach to introduce campers to mammals, reptiles, bugs, and amphibians. Campers will learn about caring, feeding and handling of the animals. Our five-acre pond is the perfect setting for boating and fishing. Horseback riding lessons are also provided at a local stable.

Social Development: Maplewood is a wonderful place for children to form long lasting friendships and develop lifelong social skills. Each day the social development of campers is nurtured through interactive activities that emphasize teamwork and cooperation. Communication between campers, their peers and counselors helps in the development of interpersonal skills, cooperation, empathy, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.

One Response to Camp Activities

Do you have activities such as indoor rock climbing for a fee or is it just part of the cirriculum if you are in a program?
